End of the Semester!

Hey guys, Andrew here from Eyja!

I know we talked about a potential show this past Thursday during Cram Jam Sessions, but it just wasn't meant to be. Our sincerest apologies.

But don't fret! We will be back next semester in January (potentially a different day and different time!) so look forward to more loopy banter and good tunes.

Some albums I liked this year:
Cut Copy - Zonoscope
Yuck - Yuck
James Blake - James Blake / Enough Thunder EP
Thundercat - The Golden Age of the Apocalypse
Justice - Audio, Video, Disco
King Krule - King Krule EP
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Belong

there were some other good albums too!
St. Vincent - Strange Mercy
CANT - Dreams Come True
Burial - Street Halo EP
Atlas Sound - Parallax
Pure X - Pleasure
Lykke Li - Wounded Rhymes
The Weeknd - House of Balloons

I also went to some awesome concerts!
Yuck at Schubas in Chicago
Cut Copy at Sala Heineken in Madrid
Belle & Sebastian, Salem, Warpaint, DJ Shadow, Yuck, and James Blake were my highlights of Primavera Sound Music Festival in Barcelona

Well hope everyone is doing swell! Have a good holiday season.

Keep in touch,
Eyja

INTERN TAKEOVER

Gather around, one and all! See the great spectacle as our stellar interns Katie (insert DJ name here) and Gabby (insert DJ name here) take over Eyjafjallajokull!

They did an amazing job, bringing funny topics across the nation (from chicagoland all the way to california!) through their wit and charm. It was truly a sight to see. Some topics include

Lindsay Lohan
Rain

And during this glorious show we stumbled upon yet ANOTHER segment to add to our show! The name is still under discussion ("Imagination time," "What do you see?", and "The song feeling segment" are just a few of the titles - dont' worry, we'll think of something better.) While listening to some song Katie played, (I honestly don't know what the song was or else I'd tell y'all!) we all described the setting, environment, and actions that developed from our minds. We came to the conclusion that Julia was the owner of some underwater swanky bar attached to an even swankier hotel, with Gabby randomly lost, Katie as a secret agent, and myself in a tuxedo on a business trip. A penguin in a tux was making me a mixed drink, an octopus was playing the piano as well as the violin, a walrus was playing the drums (made out of clams), and a seahorse played the horn. Seaweed draped the stage and pearls formed the chandeliers.

Truly a sight to see. What do you guys think? Should we run with this? Make this yet another piece of our crazy-awesome-super-duper show?! I think it'll add nicely with

GUESS THAT SOUND.

So this week the interns thought up of and created the sound. I'm sure no one will ever guess it so I'll just tell y'all now:

IT WAS KATIE PULLING OFF HER RUBBER BOOT!!

Genius, right?

So that's all I guess. Mr. Panda (Julia's USB port) is missing in action - as known as m.i.a. - and it saddens us that we can't put up the remaining shows. We're going to try to find it and get those last shows during OUR SURPRISE LAST SHOW (WAITWHAT? ITHOUGHTTHATTHEYWERE DONE>>>WELL I GUESS NOT!!)

That's right, we're going to go during Cram Jams next week and have one last show! But LISTEN LISTENERS. It will not and I repeat will not be during our regular time but instead be

THURSDAY DECEMBER 15th, 2-4pm EASTERN

So tune in as we play our last show!

Here's the playlist
Bye guys!

"I have to fix some air conditioners"

Hey guys! We're back!

Well, not everyone... Julia is sick today so she sacrificed her radio personality for our benefit and health. Everyone wish that she gets better!

So the beginning of our show was kinda crazy, with interns running late, multiple phone calls from the Matsas family, someone from Philly telling us that our show is better than her radio station's, and some automated voice message calling about diabetes! But things came into place quite smoothly, and we got our SECOND WINNER for the 2011 fall season's Guess That Sound!

JULIA HERSHONIK! It was "scratching our hair"
(blondes of the world unite and celebrate!)

I know I know, you guys are probably asking, "But she's a DJ on the show! How can she actually be able to compete?!"
And our answer is...
I DUNNO, BUT SHE WON SO WHATEVER!
(But really, congrats Julia)

Here's our playlist:

Eyja out. Tune in next week for Intern Take Over! (We had to wait a week so that Julia can take pictures and cry like the mother she is.) We'll also post the podcasts next week with Mr. Panda!

Peace

Eyjagobblefyajokull

p.s. Finals are slowly creeping around the corner and then approaches the end of the Fall semester. I know y'all aren't looking forward to selling your books to Barnes & Noble or those vans that give you like $15 bucks for a $100 textbook. My roommate just launched a website www.mybookcrate.com and it's totally the answer to this problem! Check it out

YAY BOOKS YAY LEARNING YAY SAVING MONEY

p.p.s. We can't find the recording for our Nov 2nd show.... but we'll put up the Nov 9th show soon!

November + December Concerts

Hey listeners/followers/readers/admirers/lovers/clones/friends/enemies OK I'M GOING TOO FAR NOW:

Hi! Eyja here just wanted to tell you all of all the great concerts coming up during the last few weeks of the semester. This has nothing to do with the fact that we are trying to procrastinate instead of writing a paper. (If you are wondering, I actually am really happy with my paper and will finish it shortly after this post. But, I mean, you can't just write straight through, ya know? You gotta give yourself some break time!)

Anywho,
Here are some concerts coming up that we think you should check out!

11/19 Phantogram at Royale Boston
11/20 M83 at House of Blues
11/29 Crystal Stilts at Great Scott
12/1 Baths at Middle East Downstairs
12/1 Digitalism at Paradise Rock Club

So there aren't that many shows left in the semester, but that's okay. Try to go to one of these! Lots of fun. And, I mean, there's always Big Time Rush coming to look forward to next semester. Can you say ~~**dReAMy**~~??

love, eyja

GUYS! HI!

Happy November 9th, also known as the NICEST DAY OUT EVER. Have you seen the outside today? IT'S SUNNY AND PERFECT AND BEAUTIFUL.

On this weeks show we got nostalgic about some of the things that we played with as kids. Here's a quick rundown.

Exhibit A: POGS

Well everyone except for Katie has played with these things. They are a classic "DO YOU REMEMBER THESE THINGS?"-thing and will forever be the most fun I've ever had throwing disks at other disks.

Exhibit B: CRAZY BONEZ

Andrew loves this stuff. I think I had them too? I'm pretty sure that we threw these at eachother in the name of fun but who knows. I DON'T KNOW THEY LOOK COOL?

Exhibit C: K-nex

EVERYONE HATED THESE THINGS BUT ME. Still one of the best toys of all time.

Exhibit D: Pokemon

Gabby was way into these. Andrew was an active trader. I beat Pokemon Yellow once on my gameboy and my family didn't understand why I was crying.

In any event we had a visitor in the studio today! Our friend Kyle came in to bother us for a bit and we revived the good old Halloween soundboard one last time for old times sake. Speaking of SPOOKY THINGS Andrew shared a story with us about Count Chocula and the role that it plays within his family's structure. RIVETING!

All in all a wonderful show this week, If you missed it don't worry, we'll have the podcast up in one week! THANKS GUYS LOVE U AND STUFF!

Also guys, we have incredible news. Katie and Gabby proposed to Andrew and I today. They asked if they could remain on the show with us next semester! Andrew and I are so happy, fulfilled and can't wait to spend the rest of out lives year with them. AHHHHH!
